GFY.com No matter how long I’ve been making money through porn, there’s still something new to learn every day. The best way to improve my work would be to do an analysis of current trends and see what works best, but that can be pretty hard since there are so many genres in porn. That’s why instead of melting my brain trying to figure out what’s going to work, I simply look for advice with other people in the industry on various forums. The forum I’ll be focusing on today is GFY, which I haven’t used just yet, but I was definitely intrigued by all the hype surrounding it.
If you’ve been on the internet over the past decades, chances are you already know what GFY stands for. If somehow you don’t, it stands for Go Fuck Yourself, but hold it right there, don’t get too offended just yet because, on this website, that’s considered to be a term of endearment… somehow. Yeah, I don’t get it either, but I don’t pay much attention to the site’s name as long as it has users who are welcoming and willing to give advice and collaborate with others. Well, after finding out that GFY has been online since 2000 and is still considered to be one of the best forums for those looking to make it big in porn, I excitedly jumped onto the main page to meet some new people.
Right off the bat, as soon as I entered, I was surprised that GFY didn’t force me to make an account whatsoever. Most of the forums I’ve been on either allow you to somewhat roam through the main page or block everything off until you register, so this was definitely a nice change of pace. I could easily pick and choose all of the different threads that the website recommended, which is great for those who just want to browse and not actually interact with others and advance in the space. In order to get the privileges to create threads, post comments, and message other users privately, you’ll have to register beforehand.
Although I usually dread creating new accounts, the whole process was way simpler than I thought. You’ll have a few typical lines to fill in with your username, password, and e-mail address, but what is a bit different from other forums is that GFY allows you to pick an adult industry sector you’re most interested in. You can also choose your role and showcase your website with a URL; other than that, you have to agree to the terms and conditions, copy the annoying captcha, verify your e-mail, and that’s all there is to do. From then on you’re free to roam the incredible network and use all of its tools with ease without any additional actions needed.
I’m not the type of guy who pays too much attention to designs, but as soon as I entered GFY, I couldn’t help but be shocked by what greeted me. I know the site’s been in business since 2000, but I had no idea that it hasn’t changed whatsoever over the years. Hell, the site even allows users to put in their AOL and MSN contact information. The main page is littered with simplicity and a lot of emoticons that were used back in the day. I personally don’t mind this look since it reminds me of the good old times when I was just starting to understand the business, but I feel like it’s worth mentioning since there are plenty of younger people looking to join, and they might find the design off-putting or unprofessional.
Despite looking old, GFY is surprisingly easy to scroll through. Each category you’re looking into is riddled with threads, and without even having to enter them, you can see when the last comment was made, how many views it has, and how many replies there are in total. Each member has their own profile, and it’s pretty easy to find out more about a user before sending them a private message to work together. I’d highly suggest spending a bit of extra time on making your own profile stand out, as there are plenty of users on GFY that you’re either going to be competing or collaborating with.
If I had known what GFY had to offer, I would have joined the forum years ago. While browsing, I was expecting mostly to see people chatting about their struggles and giving some basic advice, but surprisingly enough, most of the members were incredibly professional and helpful. Although there are tons of threads where people are just goofing around, the vast majority of them are focused on business. As far as topics go, you can easily find a thread that revolves around your niche in a matter of seconds. Whether you’re working on advertising, creating websites, producing porn, backlinks, affiliates, or AI, chances are there’s a thread with plenty of people to discuss with.
Since GFY is a free forum, on rare occasions, you might come across horrendous people who’ll make you want to find out where they live and go to have a little chat with them. From my experience, these situations were extremely rare, and almost all of the members were friendly, insightful, and genuinely wanted to collaborate and create something that was going to make them an honest living. Hell, there’s even a section dedicated to members who are looking for users to hire, so you can even get a job just by scrolling for a few minutes and finding what works best for you and your skill set.
After browsing and chatting with other GFY members for a while, I’ve had the pleasure of taking advantage of everything that the site has to offer. Although everything seems to be perfect so far, there definitely are some things that need to be changed or upgraded. The first thing that comes to mind is the design, which, although it looks cute and old school, I would prefer to be somewhat modernized so that newer members can get more satisfaction while scrolling through it. The other issues, such as the rare jerk you’ll come across, can’t be fixed, so your best bet is to block and ignore them. You should also be wary when talking to anyone on GFY as there’s a chance they’re there just to use you for their benefit, which is true for every forum ever created, but it’s worth mentioning again for newbies.
Overall, GFY provides everything that it claims it does, a place where porn lovers gather to discuss and collaborate in hopes of earning as much money as possible. The biggest benefit of being a member is the sheer amount of knowledge you can gain from chatting with others, but you don’t even have to talk; you can simply scroll through older threads and learn how to improve your business from other people’s mistakes. Best of all, everything is completely free, so I’d highly recommend creating your GFY account as soon as possible, making your profile stand out from the rest, and finding like-minded individuals.
